Poison es una banda estadounidense de Glam Metal que fue popular a finales de los años 1980 y principios de los '90, con más de 50 millones de álbumes vendidos solo en su país, siendo de las bandas representativas de ese género sus ventas en el mundo superan los 70 millones de copias. Fue un gran icono de los 80's especialmente.
El estilo estrafalario en el vestir y del peinado en los inicios de la banda atrajo a un gran número de seguidores y por sus grandiosos saltos en cada canción como en Nothin' but a good time o el mayor éxito Every Rose has its thorn que fue número #1, sin dejar atrás los videos musicales coloridos y con situaciones divertidas, siguiendo con la tendencia de otros grupos de gran éxito como Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, etc. Sus tres primeros álbumes fueron los que los catapultaron a la cima del mundo, después a principios de los 90's hubo un parón debido al despido de C.C. DeVille en 1992 (Que regresaría en 1999) y al surgimiento del grunge. Han recuperado bastante su fama esta ultima década al salir en numerosos programas, participar en premios y el que más ha alcanzado la fama es el líder vocalista Bret Michaels.
